Ben is also a baker in New York City, managing production for stores that serve anywhere from 300 to 500 customers daily. Here are two notable brands that he’s worked with.

DOUGHNUT PLANT

Doughnut Plant is the original gourmet doughnut maker. Since 1994, Doughnut Plant has been pioneering artisanal, high-quality doughnuts in New York City, using all-natural ingredients and innovative techniques. Founder Mark Isreal started making doughnuts using his grandfather’s recipe in a Lower East Side basement, delivering them by bicycle to gourmet coffee shops.

Over the years, Doughnut Plant has introduced many industry-first innovations, including the first Crème Brûlée Doughnut, the iconic Square-Filled Doughnut, the Doughflower, and the vegan Sourdoughnut—all made fresh daily with no artificial flavors, preservatives, or trans fats.

Doughnut Plant's commitment to originality, craftsmanship, and premium ingredients sets them apart as the true original gourmet doughnut maker.

BAGEL JOINT

Bagel Joint is a gourmet Jewish bakery anchored by husband-and-wife duo Lanty Hou and Will Sacks. Lanty and Will founded Bagel Joint as a way to celebrate global flavors through the lens of Ashkenazi Jewish food. The word “Joint” in the name holds double meaning: 1) to suggest a sense of placefulness and 2) to reinforce the idea of marriage and fusion. Since July 2023, Bagel Joint has sold thousands of unorthodox bagels and assorted pastries at the McGolrick Park farmers market in Greenpoint.
